You are a very talented artist Ken - that is a beautiful sketch, although the word sketch doesn’t do this piece of fine celestial art justice! Masterpiece comes to mind!
Cheers

Great job, Ken. You display great patience to come up with that rendition. Between you and Sebastion, we have a budding artistic community developing on the forum.
When my scope comes back with its mods from Peter Read, I would like to give that sketching thing a go myself.
What the! That's a quite impressive sketch. Well done.
By gee Ken, you are a man of many talents, great work, mate, it must have something to do with the Ballarat side of things, as i got my image of Eta Carina on the IIS Home Page, as image of the week too.

Wow! So many replies!!!
Thanks everyone.
I don't mean to sound 'smarty-pants' about this, but, I just draw what I see.
A lot of it is smudging the pencil with my finger. That's how I get the Nebulous effect.
Thanks to Andrew Durick for putting me onto the 'Astronomy Sketch of the Day' site. He too has had a sketch on there.

I might fly you up to Sydney Ken, to do one inside my office on the wall, then again....I probably won't

Nope, but I did use a SBIG drawing pad and I had a Losmandy G-11 eraser on the end of a Mogg Adapted Pencil.
3 x 2 hour exposures, Stacked in Monostax, wavelettes in Bondi, and Reddenised in PhotoShop, and finally cropped at the barbershop.
