Hi all,

Getting back into astrophotography after a break of a year and thought I’d see what tech has come onto the market. I saw that there are a couple of new harmonic drive mounts from ZWO and Sharpstar:

http://www.sharpstar-optics.com/index.php/en/customization/389.html

I’m interested in these as there’s reportedly little to no backlash and they are much more portable that the standard 15+kg GEMs currently on the market.

So I was wondering if anyone in the community has experience with these type of mounts (not the two listed above as they aren’t out yet).

What are the pros and cons of these? And how do they compare with more traditional GEMs?

Cheers in advance.

Rene
