It should go without saying but I have been admiring all the solar images posted by everyone recently while twiddling my thumbs because of the persistent cloud and rain. Has been a few breaks that have allowed me to catch some photons and today was one of them, thankfully, as I wanted to catch the huge prom. The visual of the prom at 100X revealed a wealth of fine filigree detail that I managed to capture but not as fine as was evident in the eyepiece.
Since imaging earlier today I've learnt that the prom has erupted and is no more, images on GONG show the event.
Anyway here are some images taken today. the white light images were taken with an 127mm achro and Baader filter. The Ha were taken with my usual set up of 85mm F10.5 PST Stage 1 conversion.

Thanks Guys, was glad that I managed to see the prom when I did, should have kept the camera taking videos for a few hours into the afternoon , might have caught the eruption, which was spectacular.

Nice shots mate- really nailed it! I’ve been toying with the idea of a pst mod myself for one of the refractors I’ve got laying around. And seeing shots like this make me want to revisit. Is there a reliable procedure you could point me to that I could do a bit more research? Cheers

I can thoroughly recommend the PST Mod, there is plenty of info on the WWW and Ken Harrison, Merlin66 on here, is very knowledgeable on all things solar and was very helpful when I did mine, this is a good starting read, -

Be aware that if you go for the Baader ERF, they are expensive pieces of glass but there is an alternative if using a smaller apertures, in the form of an 35mm Ha filter mounted in front of the focuser. Obtaining a PST to mod may be difficult, depends on your budget I suppose.

Hopefully others that have done the "Mod" will add their knowledge and experiences, it is still the cheapest option for increasing the aperture and therefore resolution for Solar Ha viewing.

Thanks Jeff / Ken really appreciate that. Yes I’ve got a 40mm single stack pst and an old 120mm achro so was kinda thinking I’ve got most of the bits already. I’ve got some study to do it seems!!
