He was wrong - he can't know what he doesn't know and therefore cannot conclude it* is limited.

What I would say; however, is that knowledge can be limiting, in that it confines one to a certain paradigm, whereas imagination can help one break free from that same paradigm.

Good point and nice retort, but being being eminent or right about something, doesn't make you right about everything, especially a generalization about knowledge and imagination, which falls in to the domain of philosophy, science, .... many things. It is subject matter on which many can comment.

The author seems t be talking about intuition and the ability of the mind to make unconscious leaps and achieve insights, but of course these are based on knowledge and experience .
