16th jan 2022 Mg, Cak and CN

Managed to get a better image in Mg(b2) which allowed comparison with a Ca II K image and my latest challenge the CN molecular line "head" at 3883A.
It looks like the Mg is very close to white light (photosphere) then the CN and finally the CaK in the lower chromosphere.

Note the filaments in CaK (and the proms)
MiniSHG on the ED80. (Some artefacts to be fixed on the CN line - not an easy target.)

That is a nice set of multi wavelength images Ken. I did see those Proms in Ca II K but not as pronounced as yours.:thumbsup:

I’m doing an analysis of the typical exposures needed with the Lunt CaK filter with its wider bandwidth v’s the “narrowband” SHG.
If you have any exposure data to share I’d like to know.

Clouded out down here during my observing window.
Spent the time analysing the CN results.
The surface detail at least to my eye still makes me think Mg(b2) is low in the chromosphere, followed by the CN molecular band then the slightly higher CaII K region.
I still can’t find any comparable CN images since the 1970s. Fifty years ago!!
