Pixinsight toolbar buttons greyed out

I recently purchased a HP Elitebook G8 laptop with a i7 core processors. On installing the latest Pixinsight App 1.8.8-11 half the toolbar buttons are greyed out and therefore are inactive. This makes the app completely useless. Has anyone encounted this problem? and if so how was it corrected.:sadeyes:
