Hello I took this shot of the centre of our galaxy back in 20/7/06.or there abouts .There are pics of the gear I shot it with a Konus EQ-4 mount -80mm achro to track with and canon 350D . piggyback.I am learning how to use Photoshop so on the weekend I ran it through it and got some more detail out of it. Nice one Tony. Widefields can be so satisfying to take. Plus they put into perspective what you are visually seeing and help you to see more.
btw I like you "Stability Enhancement Adjuster" on you tripod tray ;)
Great widefield Tony and your setup looks very nice as well.
Cheers

Hi Tony,
A very nice picture, and nice equipment used to obtain it, However a point worth mentioning, This is not the centre of the Milky Way Galaxy, although often mentioned as such, as our solar system sits out in the Orion Arm of the Galaxy, about half way to the outer edge, between ourselves and the centre are the Sagittarius Arm (that which you photographed) The Crux Arm and the Norma Arm all which obscure the centre (which is thought to be a black hole), The Sagittarius Arm (star cloud) is a specatular object for photography nontheless, thought you might be interested in these facts.
cheers.....Jim

Good shot Tony.
Here's a similar image that I took last year with my 350D mounted on a Manfrotto tripod pointed straight over my head.

By the way, amazing how you managed to keep your van and scope from rolling back down that very steep 90 deg hill.
