As mentioned in another thread, I am on a mission to image the members of our solar system. Given that it could be a few months before I get to fill in some more blanks I thought I would post my results so far.

Yes, yes, I know Pluto is no longer considered a member of the solar system, but to me it is still family. :P

It don't matter to me what the "Big Boys" call Pluto. It's still there, it's still Pluto, and it's still an interesting object to amateur astronomers.

Happy imaging,
John

Excellent project you are working on Andrew.
It's looking great so far, looking forward to the new additions.

Vesta is sitting nicely for a pic at the moment! Don't forget to add it, as it's now in the same class as Pluto as a Minor Planet

Ken, if I add Vesta then I'll have to add two more because it will ruin my nice 3 x 3 matrix. Neatness shall be maintained at all times. :nerd:

Hate to stuff up the matrix more, but isn't the sun part of the solar system?

Great work BTW.

Cheers

That is a marvellous observation Stuart :P

Hold on there, what about the Earth?

All you need is a big mirror on a long stick.

Should serve to round out a new 3 x 4 matrix.

Here's a pic of the Sun, Earth and Moon together.

No, I didn't take it !

OK, I am renaming the thread to .... 'Our Classical Solar System minus the Earth and the Sun'

So would that dark region to the top left of the moon, be a solar flare, sun spot ?

I like the detail in Pluto!...oops...it was a speck of dust on my screen. I thought it was a bit big.

Woo hoo!

My solar system project is filling up. I have two more additions (Uranus and Neptune). Only three to go.

Great stuff Andrew, Pluto will be the tricky one I think.

... and probably the last one I will do. I'm not even confident I will be able to find it visually let alone image it. My latest shot of Uranus had the Toucam settings maxed out.

:confuse3: Hmmmm, I guess I could use Paintshop to put a single white pixel on a black background and call it Pluto. Who would know?!?

You could make a movie Andrew, just keep moving the white pixel and saving the images.
