Nice to get an image out, seems to have been an eternity.

Never thought it would be so difficult polar aligning on decking but there you go. Interestingly in the recent storms a large section of eucalpyt broke off and i have a direct line of sight to the SCP, so actually decided to use SharpCap to polar align. seemed to go ok.

This is about an 1hr 15 of 03, about 5 mins of stars. The Ha blend (third pic - another hour 15) but I'm having flat issues (concentric ring issues). perhaps it is a stray light issue in some of the subs.

now that i have PA going ok and the reflections less of an issue, i will need to get back to flattener spacing.

might grab some more data tonight.

Hi Russ,
I like your blend of HORGB. Looking forward to seeing your image with more data incorporated.

How appropriate to photograph -the dolphin when you reside on the mornington peninsula. :)
Cheers Kanga

That's a wonderful start on a very dim object. I like your setup, its very similar to my AP130 setup.

As far as spacing goes I think you need to address tilt first as the top half of the image - the stars are tight and look in focus.

The bottom left are round but slightly bloated and out of focus (only a little bit) and the bottom right is showing some coma. So I would correct that tilt on the bottom right and check it with a new image.

Spacing issues are more elongated radially. You are very close, so there may only be 1 perhaps 2mm in it tops.

Greg.

Nice work Russ

I have trees obscuring the SCP. Would need a bulldozer to see it...

Good effort

Nice come back Russ, looks lovely, nice work. This has got to be one of the more intriguing objects in the sky, unique even..? The effects of the minor tilt is only really noticeable at full res.

Excellent!, youve captured the wispiness well and good detail . Your image scale is good for this object.

Thanks very much Kanga

Thanks for the comments Greg and the tips on tilt and spacing. This has been cropped a bit unfortunately so it is a bit worse than shown

Cheers Peter - looks like you have been getting some cracking shots so probably no need for the bulldozer!

Cheers Mike - that ís a good question - a quick search didn't reveal much - but looking rare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf%E2%80%93Rayet_nebula

Thanks very much Marc.

Managed to up the data to 3hrs 30 for O3 and about half an hour more of Ha. which has ironed out the noise a bit more.

also an 18min tarantula (while i was waiting for canis major to rise a bit higher).

last night autofocus went haywire in NINA after working perfectly the past two nights so that is a mystery. however I think i have tracked down the concentric circle issue in the Ha. It appeared in the S2 in the Tarantula so I am thinking it may be those pesky red LEDs on the power converters somehow leaking making their way into the tube ... :mad2:

1 step forward 1 back
