Thanks Ron. A great science story. A shame that universities are threatening to cut funding to the FRB research and radio telescope in Canberra.

We went to the Apollo anniversary event in Parkes where the we had the chance to drive the dish around and locate pulsars as well as the complete tour with astronomy lectures and displays from the SKA. Not to mention The Dish movie under the stars.

Hi Ron,

I think Swinburne and Sydney universities fund the radio telescope which is actually at Molongolo in NSW near Canberra and was upgraded about 5 years ago in search of FRBs. The funding however from at least one of the universities seems to be drying up despite some success.

Perhaps the SKA is sucking up all the funding in that area

Read about Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope (MOST), was a refit for the radio system as stated. Nice to see the upgrade of an old system, you can view it on google maps/earth fairly easily.
