I know this is an old chestnut, but I do seriously wonder how some businesses
in Oz justify their pricing.

I had a sulphur crested cockatoo make off with a lens cap to my, not inexpensive, Fujinon 10x70 bino's recently.
Contacted Fujinon Oz. $154 delivered for a black slip on plastic cap.
Plastic.
Cap.
No logo.
Worth maybe $2.00.

You can buy binoculars, with case and caps, for less than that.

What am I missing here?

P.S.
If anyone has a lone 98mm ID binocular lens cap they'd like to cash convert...send me a PM.

$154?? That cockatoo must have known what he was taking!

I just googled 100mm black plastic end cap and an Aussie medical supply company called Medisa has a 100mm black cap ( assuming 98mm ID ?? ) for $2.88 and in stock
Medisa.com.au

Does the cap have to be strictly designed / manufactured / supplied from an Optical or Astro company ??

To me an end cap is an end cap provided its black , not rigid plastic and will fit comfortably

Worth a call ??

There’s been a few threads lately on 3d printed items. Wonder if that’d work? Definitely be cheaper that’s for sure!

Nothing.

That is ridiculous pricing. Perhaps try eBay for a generic lens cap or if slightly oversize use a strip of felt inside the cap.

It's really none of my business but...that's insane. I would write a letter to the company demanding them to explain how they can justify that pricing..

Wouldn't do any good but jeez louise...

Have had many odd size caps printed in blue rubber by Stefan Buda. Didn’t cost much

Thanks to one and all for your responses...and the leads to reasonably priced local alternatives. I went with the medi supply option for the princely sum of $2.80 or so. Postage cost me more than the cap....as it should

If it was a fully machined, sand finished, anodised cap I could have almost seen why the extortionate price. But slip on, black plastic? As they
said in The Castle: tell 'em their dreamin'
