Melbourne IIS Meet

Hi Folks,

I'm just wondering if there would be any interest in a get to know you IIS meeting somewhere in Melbourne, perhaps for coffee or lunch.

If you are interested please post interest and rough availability in the thread below.

For me:
I'm in the South Eastern Suburbs / Bayside Melbourne and would be happy for a late morning coffee or lunch in 1 or 2 weeks, perhaps down by the beach or wherever/whenever the majority vibe suggests during the week or possibly also weekend (except Saturday afternoon).

If it's near me, where I know the ropes and vendors, I will bring coffee, biscuits and possibly food if it is lunch during the week (Vietnamese style Schnitzel Roll ±Chilli) for a snack picnic lunch. Otherwise we could go Dutch elsewhere.

So taking all the parameters so far, and eliminating all the non-intersections so to speak, with the already specified preference for a weekday and possibly a Friday, but not the 3rd or 17th, I have premptively booked ....

They make wonderful Eggs Benedict or Eggs Florentine, if that's your kind of thing, or alternatively, there are plenty of other lunch/dinner/snack choices along with lovely coffee. Based on your already advised preferences I have booked a booth which is enough for 4-5-6maybe, just in case we get some other takers before Friday.

Hopefully everyone can fit in with all those parameters, travel etc. BTW- As indicated earlier, your money will be no good there. It's licensed if you'd like an early drink too.

One thing I forgot to mention to one and all when I was at the venue a few days ago I was asked for proof of vax status. My wife showed the Green screen with tick on her phone, but I left my phone in the car and made do with an official appointment card that I still had in my wallet, which showed the dates of my two past shots. Hopefully not an issue for anyone coming.

I echo the sentiments, nice to put faces to the names and many thanks to JA for organising the meet up. It was interesting listening to the ways we all use our backyards for observing/photographing and the difficulties associated in such a restrictive environment! :)

Ok let's mix it up. Brighton was chosen as I knew the venue and food/vibe was good. Sure let's mix it up and go for Mill Park and surrounding suburbs.....

If folks could comment as per the following with their individual preferences to the following 5 questions that would help with some organisation. My answers are in bold. Copy and answer as you see fit. Hopefully a vibe will develop and we can collapse the suggestions to something more concrete in a few weeks (??) .

1. OK with Mill Park and surround area for GTG YES
2. OK with Late January 2022 event or suggest other YES
3. State preference for day/date/weekend/weekday I will fit in with majority
4. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? Prefer Coffee/Breakfast, as it keeps the day open, but if there's a vibe for Lunch sure.

Our meet was to be Mid/Late January in Camberwell on the weekend,probably on a Sunday at a venue to be advised....

If feel we may have to Omicron this one out until further notice.

I was Pfizeroostered a few weeks ago and had a light headache for a few hours on the second day. Not pleasant, but bearable without meds. Hopefully all's well with your booster Jeff:thumbsup:

With PFizer I felt like I was hit by a truck for a few days... I'm mostly over it now but I had none of it with the AZ.
