Are you aware of what preparation is going on? I would be interested to know how many people working on the project the budget etc. I guess I should look it up.

Not that I have looked yet but I have not seen anything on what is going on...and you could think that going back to the Moon would be front page news is it just me or is this not getting much air time?

Artemis is one of those projects that chugs along in the background and doesn't get much media attention until they meet milestones. Lately SpaceX has been achieving its Milestones and taking the media limelight particularly the manned missions. During the 60's not much was heard about the Saturn 1B and Saturn V development, the Apollo CSM and LM took peoples attention particularly Apollo 1 (AS-204).

Private companies will probably get humans back to the moon before government departments like NASA
Artemis was pretty much dead in the water 2 years ago when required funding was limited by Congress due to other pressing issues facing the US
Bridenstine pushed as hard as he could but funding and public interest in Artemis waivered during the later part of Trumps presidency and from current media opinions is still waivering.

Regarding the US space program in the 60’s , many said if it wasn’t for the Apollo 1 tragedy , we probably wouldn’t have reached the moon until the 70’s ( if at all )
Apollo 7’s earth orbital test flight using only a Saturn 1B and a brand new CSM to Apollo 11’s landing only took 9 months to accomplish, which is absolutely astonishing by today’s standards.

Space X is the front runner at the moment for the Moon but even they have their issues , mainly time.
2024 to the Moon looks like a pipe dream at present. But who knows it has been done before a long long time ago , 9 times and 6 landings
