Ngc 2070 hoo

This is the first of a 4 part series I intend on capturing on NGC 2070.

Inspired by Nikolas brilliant HOO version I decided to do same.

This is a Ha, Oii with synthetic Sii derived from a L-Extreme Filter. 131 x 4mins. Fully Calibrated and processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop. Bortle 5. ED80 (trusty Gold) on HEQ5 ASI 533 MC Pro.

(I intend on adding more L Extreme data, some dedicated Ha data, and equivalent Sii data. That will be combined with data from L-Pro RGB - but For now this is all that the clouds would let me do!)

How do you split the channels like that and recombine with a synthetic in PI?
I have some decent data I can play around with and would love to do the same.

Thanks Adam! You split put each channel and map the Sii to green. That becomes a false Sii. Then you can use colour map tool in Pixinsight to get the right tones. Ill pm you some info.

Paul this is really awesome. I saw a great Youtube video of Cuiv doing something similar creating a fake sulfur channel. I can only dream of achieving results like this one day :thumbsup:

wow thats impressive, dynamic range well handled, tasteful pallet, sharp as and with an ED80 !!. What with the HEQ5 I think you have produced well above your weight class :D:P. That takes skill.

Thanks Greg - I fitted an Electronic Auto Focuser and it runs through two cycles a session. I think its made a lot of difference to the sharpness :D

Thanks Mike! I'm wondering what it will look like when I add some RGB. Good thing about this target is its only going up and around within my backyard fov so once the cloud moves off I might get lucky :) no trees

Yeah I know, if you have a clear southern sky you can hit the mag clouds for many months. My new southern sky is completely unobstructed and super dark..I should be able to hit both of them for upto 9 months of the year probably even 12 really ...I can't wait!
