There are some pretty far-distant galaxies just north of NGC 300 that had previously been just on the edge of the field for us. We reframed a little to the north, to bring them more into field.

Big one here (https://photos.smugmug.com/Category/Astrophotography-at-Placidus/i-JbBq9zQ/0/5b6f69ac/O/Some%20small%20galaxies%20around%20 NGC%20300.jpg)

There are at least 135 galaxies in the field, based on morphology. There are a lot more red fuzzies that are quite probably ellipticals.

8 hours of luminance over last 2 nights. 12 hours of colour from 2015.
16803 chip. 20 inch PlaneWave CDK. Field 0.65 deg wide, north up.

Beyond stunning. Surfing through these deeper sky images is an absolute treat. Not only is it amazing that we can see soooo many distant galaxies (I never get tired of finding them), but to be able to discern star forming regions with this level of detail in other galaxies as well, is incredible.

Well done, Mike and Trish

This is a superb NGC 300. Not the brightest galaxy in the bunch, and you have caught it beautifully:thumbsup::thumbsup: Those distant galaxies are a bonus!

+1. Indeed phenomenal. It is actually as good if not better than the ESO version.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Beautiful work. Just zoom in and it keeps getting better! Just amazing the detail extracted from some of those background galaxies. Wonderful!!

Hi Mike and Trish,
what a fantastic picture.
I don't know how it could be improved except maybe with Ha data?

cheers

Unbelievably good.

To this layperson it's indistinguishable from Hubble material, other than maybe differences in resolution but which take nothing away from it.

Galaxies are what what I like to image partly because they are faint and difficult to do well. Your image is a true result of what is possible, well done.
Clear skies Ken.
