Astrobin Calling for Judges for 2022

If you are a member of Astrobin you may have received an email from Salvatore calling for nominations for the Astrobin Judging Panel for 2022. He is seeking eight Judges who are willing to serve to judge the "Image of the Day" and "Top Picks". Obviously you would need to have some background in astrophotography, and be willing to dedicate some time to evaluate the images submitted to Astrobin. While an extensive Astrobin portfolio may not be absolutely necessary, some evidence of knowledge would likely be required. Have a look at your email and see if you have received an invitation, and check your Spam to see if it might have been scrubbed inbound. If you have not received the email, but are interested, then contact Salvatore at Astrobin.

Well many people still believe imaging is a visual art form, not just a PI script. An AI is likely to produce the same results over and over again, within the bounds of its programming. Let's leave it to human interpretation.

Actually "Starless" processing is not a new trend. It has been around for
well over a decade. None other than David Malin (aka keeper of the light) gave
a starless image a Malin award 12 years ago.... Are you suggesting DM is also a "numpty" ? :shrug:

As for judging on AstroBin to come up with an in-house APOD .....sort of reminds
me of (rather meaningless )"participation awards" .

Soaring with the eagles is difficult when you are surrounded by turkeys.

Dunno - I've seen some far better IOtD on Astrobin than some prestigious award winning images. Forced perspective galaxy comes to mind amongst other "creations"
