2882 - now stacked 12%

Tempting blue sky morning got me out to see what SOL had to offer. Here is a close up of sunspot activity Ar2882. Not nearly as detailed as most of the Solar gurus' images here but worth the effort at least (in fact very unstable).

Well done mate, good catch!
Seeing during the daytime can be challenging to say the least.
I use as fast a frame rate as I can and limit each video to 500 frames.
Trying to catch those fleeting moments which can bring success.

Merlin- believe me I tried. I took a 90sec SER but could not for the life of me get it to work in autostakert. I’ve never tried solar imaging using video capture. The image I posted was a single snapshot.

I had another go after watching a tutorial on solar image stacking using AS!3 and this is the result of best 12% of 2666 frames and clean up in PS

Much happier with the result now.

Nice one Anth! I’ve been trying a few solar shots myself and yes it’s quite tricky to get clear detail. Did you try any wavelet sharpening in registax?

No, I ended up by-passing Registax and went straight into PS.
There was a lot of weird artifacts going on with the avi when I tried. I'll try again with different settings and see what comes from it. The capture settings are critical with so much light entering the tube. I will try minimising the aperture by cutting a small 4inch hole out of cardboard and placing out front to see if it cuts the noise down as well. The newt is probably not the best scope clearly for this type of imaging.
Ken gave some really good advice which I'll be sure to try out soon.
