This week has certainly been one right out of the box.

I'm really proud to say the team at work (ACT Cricket) is still celebrating our success at securing a One-Day International match (India Vs Sri Lanka) for Manuka Oval in season 2007-2008.

Canberra has not hosted a limited overs international since 1992 when it saw South Africa take on Zimbabwe in the World Cup. That was the only international one-day game to be ever played here.

So this is a massive vote of confidence by Cricket Australia in the local administration and just reward for such a huge amount of hard work and lobbying:)

It will follow the traditional PM's XI match by only a few weeks. So it's gonna be a great time to be in the Nation's Capital:thumbsup:

We held our official media conference to announce the great news yesterday afternoon. The response has been huge!

We're just thrilled that this is finally going to happen. Canberra so often misses out on fair-dinkum international sporting competition, particularly cricket.

The game is scheduled for Feb 12, 2008:D

While I neither follow the game nor understand it :D ...this sounds like a good thing for you and your team.

Congratulations!

I hope that it all works out well and leads to more and bigger future opportunities.

good thing Matt, the more top grade cricket we can get to the often unused grounds the better. well done.

Thanks guys. Appreciate your comments.

Ric - no idea on when tix will be made available, but I'll give you a sneaky heads-up closer to the date;)

You're right. It should be a great game, given the great rivalry between the 2 sides.

It will also most likely be the last Aussie tours of both Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitheran. So, quite the occasion.

And not to mention both sides will be going all-out for a win as the match is part of the Commonwealth Bank One Day Series:thumbsup:
