We've had some serious renovations done in recent months, pictured is
my "pool room". Obviously not a pool room...but it's where my better half allows me to put my stuff without comment.

What's with big wine kegs? Sadly, they were beyond our budget, so a door mural sticker had to suffice :)

So..show us your "pool room" !

Nice Pool Room Peter.

Everyone needs an area to stash their stuff without too much reverb/comment and in the event there's a "What's that?" or "Oh that's new" comment, then given that the area is rarely visited, there's always good old plausible denial .... "Oh that old thing, I've had it for ages :D.

OK, ours is a very much a work in progress as an upstairs pool room and is a mixture of kid's toys, gear and building materials at the moment. I'll see if I can find a pic, but in the meantime here is a video which shows going up the stairs in to the one day Attic Observatory-to-be which is adjacent to the poolroom/hometheater/whatever area, etc...... just turn right at the top of the long stairs instead of going up in to the attic.....

Not a single picture of the program... How disappointing. ;)
I like your wine rack though.

Reminds me when a tenant moving out offerred me a pool table..I did not want it because I was in a home unit..but he offered it so cheap and mostly I felt sorry for him that I took it off his hands...so in the flat we put it in a corner and you only could shoot from the two sides not against the wall...and so making doubles and cusssion shots became normal..plus it was a nice slate top with competition pockets..smaller than the pub ones for sure..so before the pool comp we ( my new partner and I) would practice for a couple of hours and then do very well in the pool comp..one night she got to the final playoff but instead of playing a shot she would have pulled off made the common mistake of listening to the croud and played their shot missed and did not get another go.

Sold it when we moved.
Alex

 There actually is a picture of Eta Carine in the room behind the sliding door.

As for the wine rack...yep...we horizontally core-drilled 72 bottle sized holes into the 50 tonne sandstone rock.

It has excellent thermal inertia.

My wife calls the spare room my Garage, because there is more junk in there than the actual garage - scope, bayonets, gun vault, books, parts, aviation memorabilia....plus the bed I sleep in when imaging or snoring - the snoring is more often by far than the imaging :P

I bet. Sounds like a Roquefort cave rather than a poolroom. Might start maturing some blue vein in there.

How did you deal with water proofing at the boundaries having an exposed rock face like this? Flooring looks awesome. Is that gum?

In the words of Pyhton (Monty); "blessed are the cheese makers" :D

The sandstone has been sealed with a solvent based sealant (we tried water based, but it was not that successful)

The cellar floor is actually Cyprus Pine (as termites apparently don't like it), but the rest of the house has Spotted Gum flooring.

What ... no aviation memorabilia?

I've got plenty...happily... not consigned to the "Pool Room" ;)

That said...not too many other examples pool rooms/man caves are emerging from
this post.

Mine is far too messy to show. Too much carp.

My wife calls this the spare room... I call it the music room...😁

Hifi, bass guitars & bass rig (couple more bass guitars tucked away in cases), keyboard, djembe drum & a growing LP collection...

I spend a lot of time in here...😁

Sounds like a fishy excuse... :P

We're still sorting out our place, so I've got nothing set up as yet. I probably won't get a "room", but maybe a wall or two.

As you say Peter, Lots of comments, not many poolrooms.
I don't have a pool room as my house is waaaaay too small.;)
Cheers:thumbsup:

Strictly speaking I don't have one either.

Perhaps if I moved the Camira out of the garage to get the Torana out.. we could squeeze in a pool room (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-49bXNLqer4) :D

Does this count? :D
That’s my ‘Observatory’ under the laundry bucket.
... and no the wife won’t let me put a dome in the back yard.
She was happy for me to put one on the roof, until I mentioned the 20 metre high internal concrete pillar required.

I thought “Pool Rooms” were just an excuse to have a bar , couple of stools with a fridge full of beer in the back room of the home

Here’s my Pool Room or Man cave or window to the Universe ( unfortunately no fridge in there or pool table )

Cheers
Martin

Pool table...OK..problematic...but fridge? Nah...a minibar would be a no brainer. ;)

I love the wine rack. I assume the block of Sandstone came with the block of land??

No poolroom for me - just a sign on the gate the area under the deck that says “Manland”

I asked my Wife for more shelving to place some crap on- she rightly pointed out that I would just fill it up and need more and suggested converting our under-used under house storage area into a better space. Cue bed rock excavation for a 4x 4 man cave to put my crap into - me and the dog, some instruments and computers and currently-Belgium beers! Only just started but not in any rush.

Well,....As I turns out...some years ago... I was walking under our house (there was plenty of headroom) looking for termites
when I had my "Eureka" moment.... I could use all that wasted space for a cellar!

My wife did not take much convincing.

Stick with it! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
