My understanding is that the planetary exposure time is limited by the planet rotation as well as the telescope types/sizes being used. in case of my 8” Newtonian it is limited to 2-3 min max. Is there any technique I could use to extend that to a longer time, i.e. 4-5 min?

WinJUPOS will derotate and combine multiple exposures within reason.

Planet rotation and physical limits of the telescope are the key, all right.
But is 2-3 mins a real problem?
For each planet/moon/comet the focal length, aperture (according to pixel resolution) are necessary setups.
Additional planning is always an advantage:
- Use the Ephemerides function of Winjupos.
- Check which side of the planet will be visible in your planned observing time.
- Check the position of the moons of the planets to check for transits or eclipses.
