I have a Baader Vario 60x10 Finder with the most detailed reticle. Just wondering if I should use it to target aircraft or sinking U-Boats. Damn if the reticle isn't off putting when illuminated. In reality anyone have an idea what the reticle pattern is designed for?

It reminds me of a Mad Magazine spoof of the Six Million Dollar Man that appeared in the '70's.

The Colonel Steve Austin character complains about the cross-hairs
in his bionic eye hindering his vision.

I bought a graded Illuminated reticule eyepiece to do occultation and double star separation.
It is unusable as the lines and gradients are so thick, as well as at it's dimmest the illumination is so bright as to be a waste of time.
I now use the illuminator in my finderscope and the quite expensive gradient and eyepiece which are one piece sit in my "junk box".
Cheers
