NGC 300 Southern Pinwheel Galaxy

Capture NGC 300 Southern Pinwheel Galaxy over 2 nights here on the South Coast NSW under clear skies and good conditions
Only the second time I’ve captured this magnitude 9 dim galaxy located in Sculptor
Not to be confused with M83 which has the same name description.I’ve read that it is also called the “Spiral galaxy in Sculptor”. Any other references to its name ?

Skywatcher EQ6-R mount
ZWOASI2600MC set in Ascom to highest dynamic range Gain 0 , cooled to -10C
No filters
82 x 3 minute dithered guided subs
Tracking and Goto EQMOD and Ascom Stellarium
Captured in APT
PHD2 Multistar guiding ( best guiding numbers for this rig towards the end of each night 0.58 arc sec error total , Ra 0.43 and Dec 0.41 )
Subs reviewed in Astap
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools V1.7 OSC Linear data set

Unlike many other spiral galaxies NGC 300 gives a “smudgy” appearance with a soft core and wide spiral arms
It’s not an easy target to capture and process especially when you only have 1000mm of focal length
Pretty happy with the end result and the rigs performance ( can’t expect any more out of it )

I spent quite a few hours processing this one and was quite pleased with the end result, quality data helps too.
You obviously noticed the dozens of little faint galaxies spread around the field , I’m surprised my scope picked up so many, another feather in the cap for the 2600MC. Great camera !
