As well as 1200 m high mountains, Gassendi crater has quite a complex of rilles on its floor.
I'm not sure that I'm using Autostakkert and Registax optimally, but reasonably happy with the result given the pretty ordinary seeing. This image was taken on 19th August (11 day old Moon).
14" SCT at f/10, ASI462 with a 742 nm IR bandpass filter.
Processed with PIPP, Autostakkert 3, Registax 6 & LR.
Best 60% from 5102 frames @ 60 fps.

Thanks Marc and John - appreciate your comments and I think I now need to catch some better seeing to do a little better, but as I said, reasonably pleased with this one.

I've come back and viewed this Gassendi several times and am still impressed with the detail and crispness of the image, top shot.

Thanks Jeff and Gerard- glad you liked this crater.
On a side note, I was cursing the Moon last week because I was wanting to take some MW shots whilst I was away in a dark sky regional area......but the timing was unfortunate.
