How do they know I am waiting on a postal delivery? But pretty near every time, Usually while the parcel is still in transit, I get messages from “Australian Post”. Note, not “Australia Post”. So it's a dead giveaway. But the pattern is concerning. And there must be a connection somewhere in the system such that a genuine consignment triggers a scam email. It’s concerning because it suggests to me that Australia Post has been penetrated. Or I have. But I regularly cycle my passwords so I rate that as a low chance.

Get the same spam occasionally, even when not expecting any deliveries. Sometimes even spelled Australien Post, it is so obvious that I wonder about how smart they are.

We get it constantly, don't even open it or look at, just ignore it and delete.
It will go away eventually.

Peter,
If/when you get sick & tired of receiving any spam, you may like to take a look at
Mailwasher Pro.
They do have a free version as well, but the Pro version is available with a lifetime license if needed. A very good deal too.
I've been using it for many, many years & have never had any rubbish on my PC.
Linky > https://www.firetrust.com/

They are located in Christchurch, NZ.

Good luck & stay safe y'awll.

Hello,

Handy way to keep spam at bay is to use the multiple email boxes you're free to setup in most e-mail apps.

Ie have public and private addressing,
1) Persons/friends/family etc (do not enter this one anywhere on the web sort of thing)
2) Retailers general enquiries etc (Buying selling gumtree whatev.)
3) Comp's, survey's etc, random people etc. (stuff that you know your signing up to a whole world of spam on a sliver of a chance etc.)

That way you can keep one fairly clean and have one that gets thrashed by spam. Most spam is caused by not reading the terms and conditions of the site properly, not excluding passing on details to other providers, poor use of cookie options etc.

^ this

I generally have three. One for friends and family, the others for companies/websites/forums etc

Also, you can use a service like 10 Minute Mail to sign up to things when you don't want a longer term relationship with a company. I've used it to check astro delivery prices behind some companies. The email address expires after 10 Minutes and is gone forever.

They're scam messages. Does your phone have an option to report them as "Spam"? My phone (Nokia 7.2, running Android 10) automatically recognises them as such (and / or with the assistance of Google and / or my telco), and puts them all into a Spam folder without me needing to worry about them at all.

The embedded links go to a malicious website, which will attempt to install malware on your mobile device. The link is unique for each recipient and SMS.
