Some moon shots waiting for Jupiter to rise last night. This is around Mare Tranquillitis just on its edge. I included an overlay on H0ughy's excellent widefield (https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=1530129&postcount=1).

Bigger view here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/2021-08-15-0854_1-U-IR-Moon.jpg).

Got a few more I'll upload later while my jovian GigaBytes are still copying over from the laptop.

Added the separation between Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Sernitatis (apparentyl a very quiet place of peace and contemplation :P)

Some more:

Wonderful work Marc !!!
Love the serenity of Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Sernitatis.

Nice to see you and Houghy shooting the near side of the moon.
Last Thursday night I was taking pot shots at the far side of the moon.

Great shots Marc.

I love the smooth look of these. I find the huge brightness contrasts in the lunar landscape quite difficult to contain.

Thanks a lot Gerard.

Thanks Pete. Not too hard if you pay attention to the histogram during capture which I do now so I don't burn anything. Then processing is a lot easier.

Hah - good one Peter. I'm afraid that the diminutive Tak Mewlon 210 just ain't up to the task of taking on the cavernous 11" of Marc's C11.

Not to mention his delicate, artistic, talented, French flair and touch in post processing.:)

Cheers

That is very close. You could fall into one of those piccomolini craters as the bishop said. Fine levels of shading and depth.

Oh Wow, so why didn't you use the C11 with its larger aperture?

Cheers

I find the CN-212 sharper and more manageable.
