A rarely imaged very deep south object NGC 6438

Here is the most southerly object Ive ever imaged. -85 deg dec
10 x 15 minutes ISO 400 with the 10 inch f5.6 scope and EOS Ra. Hand guided as usual.

Guiding manually something this far south is very easy as all corrections are much reduced, The guide star just sits there with minimal movement.

Kudos to you. I'm surprised you can still guide with the seeing of late. I've been out for the past 3 nights and will again tonight. The jetstream map is all red. It's been relentless. Stars are very soft. Yesterday was particularly bad.

Did you try last night? I had guiding sub 0.6 in Sydney.

Thanks all. for most of the time the seeing wasnt too bad. Though from time to time the guide star would turn into a boiling blob.
The disadvangate of an object this far south is the slight red and blue tinge on opposite sides of stars, atmospheric dispersion, as it is so low in the sky even when near the zenith.
It will be a good challenge for large scope users, 2+ metre focal length would do it justice

oh no derailment, no. My best FWHM was just over 4" last night the worst of the past 3 nights. Previously never went under 3.8" so I'm very surprised you have sub arc second guiding last night. That's all. Replied to your PM to ask for camera details and FL.
