View Full Version here: : Foam and Your Lenses
Hi Guys I have bought a new Sigma Lens and want to protect it in a case of sorts, so the question is this.
Is the Foam that i get from Clark Rubber suitable, or dose certain Foam have additives that my react with the sensitive equipment in the case over time.
Is there any special Foam that I should use instead, thank you in advance.

Good question Leon.
I also would love to know the answer to that. I suppose you would need to know what the Clark foam or other stuff is made of and it might depend on temperature.
Maybe there is a reason that a Tak box is timber and natural felt besides that old school look.

I used the Clark dark greyfoam in my telescope box despite not knowing the answer to the question. Maybe it is the Dunlop st35-200 listed here which has VOC data if you can find it

Hi Leo.
When camping my sleeping mat is of a "closed cell foam structure" which does not absorb moisture.
If the foam is absorbent, like a traditional sponge, it may accumulate moisture which might be undesirable.
Cheers
