In this 1955 US Office of Armed Forces Information and Education film,
Wernher von Braun gives a lecture to members of the US armed forces
on the fundamentals of multi-staged rockets including a manned winged
aircraft upper stage so a crew could return to Earth.

He explains to them the physics of when weightlessness occurs and the
concept of an orbiting space station :-

Thanks Gary. I found that very interesting, especially watching it with the benefit of hindsight.

Obviously a brilliant mind with the ability to explain complicated ideas in a manner easily understood by the uninitiated.

Although, I am sure he managed to secure their interest with the inclusion of the military applications.

cheers

I think all of Europe knew full well and first hand at that point how munitions were delivered by rocket. After reading the Rocket Men and the history of Von Braun it is kind of scary listening to him talk casually about arming space.

Makes me think of the Tom Lehrer ditty.
