A lot of effort for two small (1'47" X 54.5") merging galaxies, but you can see them :)

About 10 hrs of LRGB 5min subs.

Image shown is a crop, the full one is in the staging area: https://www.astrobin.com/full/n80j8m/0/?nc=Pkay

Thanks for looking.

Effort well spent! That’s beautifully done with lots of great detail revealed

Peter,
Huge effort there with only 1050mm focal length to pick up some good detail on these pair of very dim magnitude 12 galaxies ( normally left for folk with +2000mm fl )
You also picked up quite a few faint fuzzies in the field too
Well done for effort alone !!!
M.

I can think of one detail that's missing from this image..

When did you do these? Must've come close to catching the supernova in the act since it was only discovered in mid-June.

Thanks Dave, I love capturing these small galaxies!

Thanks M, still considering the CDK12.
But then you look at the Rho Ophiuchi and the need to go wide...
Decisions decisions...

Hi Elliot, not sure about the SN, got any RA DEC coords?
Done night before last.

Fair bit of info and other shots of the same thing here, https://www.rochesterastronomy.org/sn2021/sn2021pfs.html

I saw the orginial report from a another IIS user here, https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=192196

Yours is much better than most I've come across so far, much more detail for such a tiny faint galaxy.

Hi Elliot

Turns out my image was taken 16-05-21 (processed a few nights ago)

Might be the first!

Have sent the image to the website you linked me too.

Exciting :)

Hi Alex, if memory serves me correctly, you were one of the first to capture a supanova a few years back ??

Peter you make it sound rather grand but the truth is, at a time when all here were saying that photographing Eta Carina was a bit pedestrian I took to the footpath and photographed it and in doing so by complete accident photographed a nova in the field of view... Just a mugs luck.

Mugs luck, who cares.

The Astronomers might take notice...

Wow…an amazing object that I’ve read about only, never observed or imaged.

Good stuff.

Thanks Bohdan, all good fun!

Thanks Ray, I have things almost fully automated now, set an forget. Makes life easier.

THanks Hemi, I have been trying to get more recent data however the moon is in the way...
