Arguably the most colourful part of the Milky Way and a distinctive feature that sets it apart from other galaxies Rho Ophiuchi is a yearly favourite target.
Taken last week during a few nights of clear skies.
HaLRGB image. QHY600 and AP130 GT with Quad TCC F4.5. PME mount at my home observatory in Kurrajong NSW.

A mosaic makes sense but probably with a bigger sensor and smaller APO.

Lovely detail, something not often seen because its usually shot with a wider FOV, but there’s a reason it’s usually shot with a wider FOV.

Arrrgh...this is really great stuff, but ditto with DT ..frame the subject!
Just a 'rittle bit more all around and it would be a killer image.
As is.....you are simply missing the full harbour view.
Absolutely stunning Greg.
Love it
Lovely Greg, especially the way you've captured the black smoke
A mosaic would be great to see at this level.

Thanks David. Yeah I'll be doing another version with the CFF 105 for a wider view.
Point taken. I plan on doing it with the CFF and get the wider view. I was concentrating on leaving space for the red area. Its hard to see where the pieces end on shorter framing subs.
Thanks very much. Those 2 globs are quite nice too I thought.
Thanks JA. I think I'll do a wider version next and then plan a mosaic with this setup afterwards.

Grouse image Greg, 1st I've seen of that denser lane across the top of the red dust area, good stuff ..

Thanks Bob. It mostly shows up in Ha but you can see it with a decent red exposure.

Love this target! I'm yet to do it. You have set the bar. A fantastic shot.

Love the framing, very dramatic in the way that it follows the rules yet it breaks the rules - cracking result.

Great image Greg of an amazing area.. the quality of your equipment should make life relatively easy.

Thanks Paul.
Thanks Jonathan. I wanted to highlight the red nebula area.
Thanks George. Yes the gear when its all setup well does make life easier but its surprising how you still need to attend to it, adjust something, download a new driver, repair something.

Really really nice Greg. Lots of detail given the wide field and great colours 👍

Thanks Mathew. I'm tossing up whether to do a mosaic or leave it until I setup my wider field refractor.

Thanks Rodney.
I am trying to take 2nd panel for a mosaic but the weather is proving unpredictable.

Hi Greg,
Well done. I like the unique framing, but a mosaic will be good too....
:)

Looks lovely, it is such a great area to image.
This is still a target I am considering with my setup but I am really tempted to buy the reducer that is now available for my SVX80T (Otherwise a mosaic would need about 12 panels!) then do the main work with the OSC before changing cameras to capture HA and maybe lum with the mono. Meantime with the grunt work going on using the OSC the mono can have a run on the newt.
I need to do some calculating to work out what the time impost is to do LRGB with the likely shorter RGB subs possible with the mono cam to figure out if it is worthwhile using both cams for the job.
I had a go at a MOAM (Mother of all mosaics) with the ASI294 but time and poor weather beat me.

Thanks Paul.
I am doing a 2nd panel now. It would be easier with the 16803 which has 50% greater field of view. But the QHY600 has the higher QE and better resolution.
Thanks Tim.
I currently adding another panel to this and perhaps another 2 next new moon.
