Does anyone with an FSQ106ED know what size the screws/thread for attaching the finderscope are please?

(My focus motor uses one of these holes but the other is empty and I'd really like to close it off. Would appreciate advice on best size before I go digging at Bunnings or elsewhere.)

If it is the same as the FS102 they are M5.

Thanks Ray. That would have been my best bet looking at it, but thought would ask those more in the know than I - wasn't sure if Japanese meant would be metric.

Surely I've got some somewhere in the garage..... :)

Not sure I know more but I tried a socket screw that came out of an M5 pack and it fitted. Most of the stuff is metric I think except the standard 1/4 thread on the camera mount hole on top of the clamshell. Interesting that Japanese camera screws are not Phillips head but JIS standard cross head in metric sizes. A very different animal and perfect for the application.

Just remember that these are not blind holes, so a screw that is too long will damage the draw tube......

Good point. The screws in the finder are not very long, perhaps 15mm and the finder base or dovetail finder base is thick. A 12mm m5 socket screw only just catches threads through the base.

Thanks very much Ray and Matt for the pointers. Found a suitable M5 with a nice black knurled top, cut it down to about 8mm. Hole filled :)

Had the feeling I'd find some way of stuffing this up, and may have been dumb enough to screw a longer screw in against the drawtube. Trap for unwary avoided.
