I notice some members post images which label all the faint background objects. I would like to try do the same but do not know which software to use. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Any Planetarium program, such as Stellarium, Starry Night Pro, Carte Du Ceil etc will show almost any object you could possibly want. Just set the catalogue menus to show the magnitude limit required for galaxies, nebulae, stars etc and tick the box for labels to get the NGC or relevant catalogue number.
Even the "old fashioned" Star Atlas' such as Uranometria or Herald Bobroff will show objects down to 15th magnitude or more.

There's also an annotate function in Pixinsight that will platesolve and annotate the original picture, if that's what you mean.
