M16 again

Catching up on processing today with my largest integration so far - 587 LRGB subs adding up just short of 31 hours of M16 imaged over 24 nights from April to June.

Captured using Voyager using my SN10,QSI683 and EQ8 from backyard Brissie. Processed in PI.

As always comments and advice welcome.

Any thoughts of doing some Ha perhaps now you've got Voyager dialled in?

Thanks Rob. I originally set it all up just for LRGB but have since expanded my options to include other palettes so narrow band will be an option going forward.



Thanks Dennis. I'm trying to make the most of what I have here at my inner city location. Integration time has become easy to increase with my automation efforts and it is proving to make processing easier without having to worry about noise reduction. I figure there is no point wasting a clear night so might as well have the equipment gathering data when it can.

That's great news Peter, it looks like you have Voyager dialed in quite nicely.:thumbsup::)

I did download a copy quite a while ago, but ran into problems with controlling my Tak EM200, as the mount did not appear to report which side of the meridian it was on reliably. I may have to take another look, although by now it has been over 12 months so I guess I'll have to fork out for an upgrade.

Setting up and tearing down every session does leave more room for user set up errors.:shrug::rolleyes:

It is worth sending Leonardo a message if you want to give Voyager another try. I found him to be very reasonable when I was in a similar situation.

The mount interface in Voyager will be ASCOM so as long as the Tak interface is ASCOM compliant, it shouldn't be an issue using it with Voyager. There must be dozens of people with Tak gear using it. As for setting up and tearing down each session, with the weight of the EQ8 that would be impossible. The pool pump shed has been fantastic as I'm using my gear a lot more these days. The other advantage is not creating additional variables each session, for example collimation and polar alignment. That has helped me get a set of guiding parameters that work quite consistently so I'm not wasting time experimenting any more.

Hi Peter

Its not the cost of the license, as I don't mind paying for the hard work, IP and support that goes into engineering the SW, its more the "overhead" of setting up each night.:)

At the moment, I use The Sky X Pro to control the Imaging Camera, Guide Camera, Filter Wheel, Focuser and Dithering and it does a good job.:thumbsup:

I think if I had a more permanent set up, then Voyager or NINA would already be in my back garden.;)
