Has anyone got info on the gear wheels in the HEQ5 Pro?
I’m experiencing a “blip/bump” every few seconds when imaging.
I assume it must be due to the teeth on one of the gear wheels.
I’ve played around with the balance etc.but the annoying “blip” is still there.
Any help/ assistance more than welcome....

Might need a clean? Regrease
Hi Ken,
Perhaps check it on another power supply if you have one, just in case it's somehow electrically related.

JA,
Definitely not power related, I run at 15V.
Must be something in the gearing.

volts are one thing, amps are another :)
that said, mounts draw very few amps when tracking (more when slewing) but a very old battery could cause this (if you're using a battery!)
Otherwise give it a re-grease. How old is the mount?

Thanks, but the power supply is a 10A 12V DC transformer with a car voltage step up 120W 12V to 15V which I use on the NEQ6 as well as the HEQ5pro.
It's only recently that this blip has shown up.
Probably needs a strip down and re-grease - it's 2003 vintage!

Adjustment and re-grease seems to have fixed the problem.
I’ll confirm tomorrow when I get visibility of the Sun.

Certainly sounds like it may have been a small piece of grit that got onto the gear teeth and or in the grease, as evidenced by the clean and re-grease fixing the problem.

I didn’t count the teeth on the pinion or the other two gears.
It would be interesting to calculate the engagement frequency of say the pinion teeth.
I did adjust both the intermediate gear and the motor/pinion. This may have helped???
