thanks steve. here's another one with unsharpen mask. I don't normally use this as i think personally it destroys and enhances noise in an image. anyway some people like it some don't. just for comparison only.

With the modded 300D you shouldn't need to use unsharp mask because the filter in the camera has been removed that causes most blurring of images. Plus you are using a UV/IR filter. If I ever use unsharp mask it is only ever very subtle I hate grainy images.

Hi Eric. I think the sharpened one has a bit more 'oomph'. Both very nice.

Hi Eric, they are both great images with lots of depth and detail.
The globules look fantastic against the red.
I think the second image almost has a 3D effect about it.

Keep em coming mate

Hi Eric

I have said before you have probably the most potential of any imager on this list, you have the enthusiasm and tenacity to become a world class imager!

In this image while the nebula itself is really top notch with wxcelent colour, contrast and smoothness, unfortunately the colour gradient and colour fleck filled back ground is ruining what would otherewise be a superb image.

This seems to plague many of your images, is it just sky gradients from a heavily light polluted sky?

If so it is clear to me you need to take your rig to dark skies and prove my first statement correct please! :)

Firstly, thanks for your kind words as i said before, coming out from you really means alot to me. (secret admirer lol) . Going through my unprocessed images, i see a faint haze through them all if i image east. i think i finally realised what the culprid is.

see attached pic facing east. not only i face powerlines from the east, they are also directly above my scope and the north.

that i can't help no matter how many flats i have taken and used in my images, cranking my monitor to 100 contrast/brightest, i still see the gradient. My aim is not trying to be the best around here, but to bring the best out of me from what i can do.

moving my setup to a dark sight will surely help me alot from late night cricket/footy oval lights (3 mins walk), direct street light (corner house) and shopping centre lights (15 mins walk away)that said, i have never imaged anywhere other than my house :P

However, I will be moving 2 suburbs away from where i am now within the next few months so hopefully there won't be any powerline there, that could be the first test ;)
