doing some preliminary stacking of data (so no pretty pictures), Ha and o3 the field sees to be littered with tiny planetary nebulae..... looking for a second opinion to confirm, or give another explanation. brightest one is in top left corner, but plenty of similar ones scattered throughout.

Are you talking about the reddish purplish blotches? I reckon chromatic aberration on some of the stars with some colors out of focus.

cropped bits.... this is the first time i have used the dualband filter so anythings possible, i dont have other images i can compare with
as for Planetaries there is supposed to be a lot in the area, but try finding a starmap with them listed seems difficult.

I just ran an Image Link in The Sky X Pro and it found the region of sky.
I turned on PN and Labels and nothing showed up, so I'd go with Marc on this one.
Astrometry.Net gives:
Center (RA, Dec): (253.816, -40.749)
Center (RA, hms): 16h 55m 15.742s
Center (Dec, dms): -40° 44' 56.958"
Size: 28.6 x 15.8 arcmin
Radius: 0.272 deg
Pixel scale: 0.833 arcsec/pixel
Orientation: Up is 288 degrees E of N

Thanks for your time and effort Marc, pkay and Dennis, I will have to get the program Dennis has, it’s very detailed, and I can see the target displayed.
I will be adding colour once moon is done, so it should resolve itself.
