I bought a 2nd hand Samyang 20mm F1.8 lens a while ago. To my dismay when using it for a nightscape it would not focus to infinity as the focus stop was set too early.
I fixed it the other day. I did get the instructions off CloudynIghts and they were mostly correct.
1. peel back the rubber focus ring. It will peel back over itself. Remove it off the lens.
2. This exposes a joint in the plastic and the joint is taped over in 3 or 4 spots with cellophane tape. Cut the tape with a sharp knife.
3. Loosen the little tiny black set screws on the focus ring. I think there were 3 or perhaps 4.
4. The focus ring will now be able to be moved past infinity. I moved it a bit by hand and then I put the lens back on the camera and confirmed I could now focus past infinity and back to a sharp infinity focus.
5. Tighten the set screws back up.
6. Put new tape to replace the pieces you cut.
7. Reattach the rubber focus grip.
Greg.
