View Full Version here: : It's Bortle 4.5, better than Bortle 9

Found a new place in Sydney, North Turramurra sport field car park. Once they stop playing soccer and turn off the lights its drops from about Bortle (there is no number) to around Bortle 4.5. You can actually see the Milky Way, but once your eyes are dark adjusted you could read a book under the sky glow. Still it's better than Glebe and not so far from me.

They lock it up around 12am, but if you are polite to the security guard they may leave it unlocked so you can leave.

Nice images from your new location
Well done !!
What gain setting on the 2600MC ?
Lowest read noise gain 100 or highest dynamic range gain 0
Also cooling setting ?
Do you dither your subs ?
Sorry about all the questions
Thanks
Martin

Thanks Adam, it's definately better than Glebe. only worry is if security kicks you out, but the guard who dealt with was very reasonable and left the gate closed, but unlocked.

Thanks Martin, no worries about the questions. I always use Gain 100 and -10c as I can reach that all year round. I have never dithered but really need to start. Also even though I have an ZWO duo-band, I hardly use it as like to try for natural colour.

If I’m imaging emission nebula, the only location I can get natural colours from my 2600MC ( no Duoband or L Extreme filters ) is my retirement getaway on the South Coast during the new moon which is Bortle class 3
Sydney, forget it , fine detail and true colour is swamped by noise mainly skyglow , air pollution ( the bloke behind me has his fire going all night ) and neighbours both sides have their backyard lit like downtown Las Vegas until late
The dual band filters are a life saver for me in Sydney
