Hey guys!

Here is my very first attempt at imaging!!! Fortunately, I had a great mentor! Big up to Phil. I drove over to Phil's place tonight to show him my new binoculars, and he got me imaging with his equipment! Now, I have no idea about details and configurations and seeing conditions blah blah...but Phil can post those details about tonight. I just want to show off this photo!! We took a HA photo with an exposure time of 10 minutes, dark, and flat frame corrected as well. Then we processed all the data and this is what we came up with. Enjoy!

Very nice , especially for just 10 mins too. Id be keen to know the F ratio of the scope and the passband of the Ha filter :)
Thanks

The scope was NP101mm with a 2xpowermate about F/10.8 and the HA was 10nm. By the way great shot DJege

Yes looks to be a fine image, done with some fine equipment!

Shame it's such a low res jpeg :( do you have a link to a higher res version (not too high though, I'm only on dial up:sadeyes:  500K is ok)

Looking great! Would have to do a painstaking mosaic to cover what you did!

Thanks guys. I'm sure Phil could post a link to a bigger res image for you. We shrunk it so that we could post it here.

Yes, I had a tonne of fun last night, and if I had my way, I'd be broke by next week!!!!!!!!!!!

I've improved, somewhat, my knowledgebase. Although I could see the southern cross with the naked eye, I could never find it through binoculars (cause my FOV was to small), BUT, I found it last night!!! And Phil showed me how to find this globular cluster thingy, which I've forgotten the name of, and Jupiter, Saturn.... :D

Now I'm at work, reading up on Alpha Centauri and its system of 3 stars!

I just love those Ha images, very spectacular.
