Hi all, first post here, been lurking a good while though, started up astro during lockdown last september and loving it! Anyway here's a bit of an experiment I tried the other week while the waning gibbous was high in the sky. I don't have a Ha filter, but I do have the cheapest possible UHC filter that I could find online that I bought early in my journey! Not sure if it's even for astrophotography really, and wasn't sure if the fairly wide bandpass would be at all effective. However after splitting the red and blue channels and processing as HOO I am quite happy with the results, even if they are a little unorthodox.
32x400" @ 90 Gain , -5 degrees w/ ASI071MC Cooled
Shot at 1100mm, AT6RC w/ CCDT67
SVBONY UHC filter
AZ-EQ6 GT
Calibrated and stacked in Siril
HOO recombination with StarTools
White balance and levels adjustments in PS
I don't know if I've uploaded this correctly or if there's some other way I'm missing, as the only method I could find limits images to 200kb(!) lol

Great image. I don't know much about colours or what is right or wrong, but for long exposures like that it looks like your alignment and / or guiding was spot on.
Hay Shaun, a superb wide field .
You have done a great job in capturing the Altar.
What a wonderful journey we are on.
Look forward to seeing your next adventure and welcome to the forum :)

That's a really nice shot Shaun and well processed too. 👍 I was out last night in the blustery wind having a go at this one as well. If I get something close to what you've achieved, I'll be stoked! Looks like you're a fast learner, less than 12 months on the job and already producing great results. Keep it up!
Looks good Shaun.
I too have an old UHV-S filter and have been tempted to sell it as the Optolong L Enhance filter seems to be the most impressive one lately.
About $300

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words all!
Yep I was out in that too haha - severe weather warning, so was time to stress test my newly built pier  Fingers crossed that your subs turned out alright! My guide graph was shot but surprisingly had round(ish) stars in about 40-50% of my subs.
That's what I'm looking at too, or the L-extreme. Haven't quite made a decision as I've seen great results from both.

Hi Shaun and welcome.
I think the most impressive part of this image is your star field. It looks amazing. Beautiful star colors, shape and sharpness. Well done.
Cheers
