Removing a telrad base from an OTA

How do I do it???

It's stuck on with that strong Scotch tape that the Telrad base comes with.

Any tips on how to remove it without taking half the OTA's paint job?

Yep Acetone, or your wife, or partners nail polish remover.

That's not gonna remove the paint from the OTA????

Matt, saw through the tape with dental floss making an effort to cut it as close as possible to the OTA and then heat the residue with a hair dryer and roll it up as you go. Good Luck, Greg.

The missus will be happy I'm keeping my hands off her nail polish remover;)

You can do the final cleanup with eucalyptus oil if it is necessary.
