Hi All,
I'm after a handset cable for Synscan V3/V4/V5 so I can use my existing handset on my new AZ-GTi.
Cable is the RJ45 8 Pin to RJ12 6 Pin version.
Let me know if anyone has one spare!
Cheers,
Joel

Hi Joel, just letting you know if you can't find a genuine handset cable, Jaycar sell ones that will do the job for a reasonable price.
Cheers, Michael.

Hey Mick,
Which one are you referring to? I was under the impression that the Sky-watcher cables had a specific pin structure?
Cheers

OzScopes seem to have what you want, bit expensive though:

This should be easy to make up, if you have a crimp tool. This is an annotated photo of an actual SynScan RJ12-to-RJ45 cable:

This photo aligns with the connector pinout diagrams found in the Skywatcher manuals. Beware that there are threads on StarGazersLounge and here that show incorrect wiring (failing to cross the RX and TX lines). Those may or may not work, depending on the electronics on either end.

Thanks Steffen,
Thanks for the information but I don't have the required crimping tool. That cable is not too bad a price, I may just end up getting it.

Hi Joel, I have a different handset but when my Synscan cable broke, I just got a computer Ethernet cable and it works fine. This one from Jaycar should work for you:

I’ll definitely check that out next time I’m at Jaycar, and take a picture of the connectors. What are the chances this would match the (completely proprietary) pinout of the SynScan sockets?
Which SkyWatcher mount are you using the cable with?
