View Full Version here: : Does it bother you that the constellations don't represent their namesakes?

It does me, anyway. That's how I found out about this person called H.A Rey who wrote a book in 1952 called 'The Stars: a new way to see them'. In it, s/he redraws the constellations to be more representative of the things they supposedly represent. You can see some examples here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stars:_A_New_Way_to_See_Them

In further good news, some kind soul has created a file that you can use in Cartes Du Ciel (not sure about other programs) to plot the constellations using the Rey system instead.

You'll find it by going to Configuration/Display/Lines/Constellation Figures. nder constellation figures file name, click on the box to browse to data/constellation/ReyConstL.cln.

You're welcome (and apologies to the Ancient Greeks).

Thanks for sharing this Markus... I've always struggled with this & wondered what substances our ancestors were smoking/taking when they invented these images...

I've ordered a copy.. hopefully help me on my journey of being less reliant on technology to find things...
