Just wanted to let you know that I've accepted an offer to write the Community News section in Australian Sky & Telescope - that is, the "Things to do, news to share" section near the back of the magazine.
It's the section which lists and details upcoming events, news and info of what's happening in the amateur astronomy community in Australia and New Zealand.
I start in the Jul/Aug issue and there'll be scope to write other articles from time to time (as my knowledge and time permit!).
This decision was a purely personal one (nothing to do with IceInSpace) and the 2 entities are and will remain completely separate for me.
I feel that my experience in running IceInSpace over the past 2.5 years, my love of astronomy and my passion for building the local AU/NZ amateur astronomy community gives me the skills necessary to contribute to AS&T in a positive way.
Writing for a magazine is something I've wanted to do for a long time, so thanks to Greg Bryant for giving me the opportunity.

That's great news Mike. Look forward to reading the articles in
"Sky & Telescope" magazine
Congrats, Mike.
The Jul/Aug issue of AS&T is going to be an exciting one for the both of us.
I have also been fortunate enough to be invited by Greg to submit a large feature article for that particular issue.
I'm hoping it will be the first of many, as I too love writing for the mags.
This is my first major article in astro mags, but I've written plenty of other large pieces for other publications.
Well done, and looking forward to seeing your regular contributions:thumbsup:

In the words of my old pal, Ward 'Pally' Austin, "arickapoodyandafandoog(a)ly".
All both of you have to worry about now is how to keep the type to the constraints of space (sic).

I agree wholeheartedly with Paul, its great this injection of fresh blood into AA world, there has always been a tendency to lean towards a sort of 'dads army' scenario IMO at times
all the best with it Mike, look forward to the issue :)
