NGC5746 and 109 Virginis

Near and far. The bright star to the left is 109 Virginis, a magnitude 3.7 star in our own galaxy at 128 light years distant. To the right is galaxy NGC5746 at a staggering 95 million light years distant.

I love the time involved, and to think about what was happening on Earth at the time light left these objects.





Yep, Instead of using your finderscope I've started shooting through your main scope now. :P ;)



It's actually been really bad this year. I just got a few days clear, but it's back to cloudy again now, as per normal.

Very nice image Kevin. It looks a lot like the Sombrero galaxy.

Those distances show just how massive these galaxies are.
