At a distance of 13 million light years lies this unusual galaxy, Centaurus A. This galaxy has a super massive black hole at it's center and is very strong at radio wavelengths. A prominent dark dust lane runs across it.
Skywatcher PDS300 12" F5 Newtonian. ZWO ASI 183mm Pro, Svbony LRGB filter set, 300x60 seconds, modified NEQ6 Pro. Looks like it could do with some Ha?

Loving those dust lanes, it always amazes me how distant these objects are

I know right. Just our own galaxy is amazing enough, only for there to be trillions of others like it. And not so like it! Amazing universe we live in.

Thanks Marc. That's the full field of the 12" and 183 chip. It doesn't fit in much. Great for galaxies lol.

Yet another image to debunk the popular myth that it is focal length that is required in order to image galaxies well

1500mm is enough for me! Especially with 2.4um pixels. I suppose it all depends on the camera - scope combo.

Yup! :)
Do you Bin very often? 4.8um still provides more than adequate image scale at 1500mm..?

I do with the longer FL reflectors. Luminance I usually use Bin 2 and for RGB bin 4.
Thanks Bob!
Thanks Dave!
Thanks Geoff. I had better than average seeing that night. Winter is usually a bit rough in the atmosphere here, even though transparency seems good.

Excellent picture Kevin,
it's sharp and clear - it's well processed.
I can even see the jet at 10 o'clock.
cheers
