As the title states this shot is using the colour optimised mode on the toucam and using the Baader UV- IR cut filter. Got the filter on Friday and this is my first chance to use it. Now this shot was taken when Jupiter was near 45 degrees tonight and no where near the zenith. This new filter does provide some more detail and the seeing was only around 4-5/10. I hope that I can get some seeing around 8 in the next month otherwise that is it for Jupiter. By 9:30 pm Jupiter is behind my neighbours tree, so I would think that in one month the season will be over for me. Learnt a lot this season.

Nice image Paul, I have always wondered about the I/R filters. They were all the rage for Mars. I have never used one though.
Is it worth a shot with and then straight away another without, just to see??

Yes please, would love to see a side-by-side comparison, taken the same night, same conditions, same processing.
Just like the opt colour vs normal comparison we all ended up doing.
btw that's a lovely shot Paul, one of your best. especially for 5/10 seeing.

Thanks fella's, Mike and Gary I will see if I can do that tonight. I was going to image m83 for most of the night given that it is supposed to be clear and now that the moon is not in issue for the rest of the month. However, I will see what I can do. Everything will depend on the weather and the seeing.

Nice shot Paul, I'd be interested in seeing a comparison under identical conditions too.... Comparing to a recent, similar looking shot of yours (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1789) it seems to give a little more finer detail.
Where did you get it from/cost?

I got the filter from Shelley Lapidary supplies located on Henley Beach Road in Adelaide. It cost $95.00.
This is the link to their web site.

They are good people and seem to know what they are talking about.
Yes the comparison you chose does seem to show more detail. See what I can do tonight.

Incidentally that is where I got my Tak and Losmandy from. Great guys to deal with. Andrew Shelley is the Prop. and a nice bloke to boot.

Have talked to the neighbours and they are reluctant to lower the top of their tree. However I am working on the issue. So maybe.
