View Full Version here: : Jupiter + Ganymede, April 10, Canberra
The seeing wasn't quite as good early this morning as Monday morning, but still not bad. Possibly 6.5/10.
This one was the result of the final AVI of the session, captured at 17:40UTC.
North is up.
Look at all that white spot activity in the NTB!

I like this one Matt, lovely smooth processing and the native image scale looks much more pleasing.
Nice job!
Nice one Matt.
btw I did some more camera comparisons this morning, and it seems clear that the gamma scale on the DMK goes something like this:
10 = Gamma 0.7
15 = Gamma 1.0
22 = Gamma 1.5
Maybe not exactly right, but the main point is that if you leave the gamma at 10 then you'll get an image that's too dark.
I reckon setting the gamma to 15 befor you capture is a good bet.

This looks even better now at work than when I looked at it at home on the LCD screen of the laptop.
I think this is one of your finest, Matt. The f limb is perhaps a tad dark, but it has a very nice 3D feel to it with nice smooth processing.
Reminds me of some of Paul Haese's better ones from last year.
Thanks Mike.
I think the darkness of the limb varies depending on the screen you're at.
It looks good on my laptop, but darker on my desktop.
I reduced the gamma during processing to 0.80.
The data must have been quite good. I did a resample (1.5x Mitchell) on a different AVI and it held up quite nicely.
Some subtle detail on Ganymede.
Cheers

I'd have to agree. One of your very best Jupiters, Matt. Very smooth and lots of detail. Well done!
Yes, it's a very nice image!

Another goodie Matt. :thumbsup:
p.s.
I've bought a ToUcam SPC900NC off Ebay for $124.90 + $17 delivery to my door. Also got a 1.25" adapter for $22 + $3 delivery. Both brand new.
Look out Jupiter here I come ! :eyepop:
Thanks, Steve.
Happy to hear you're all set up for some ToUcam adventures.
This image was captured using the ProII, the model which preceded the one you've just purchased. The SPC900NC (ProIII) is a slightly improved version.
So, you're on your way:)
It might be a good idea to get yourself a UV/IR cut filter for imaging with the ToUcam.
I use the Baader one.

No worries Matt I'll get one. Now I just have to wait for the postie, probably a week or so.
I actually bought the ProII before I noticed the guy also had 900NC for sale so requested a swap with a few extra dollars. The ProII was $103 plus postage $15.
Cheers
That's a good price.
Enjoy:)
