Well I managed to do what I had been hoping to do for some time, a whole hours animation on the Sun! See link below.

Peter,
Well done, a tremendous result.
How many images did you collect for the animation?

Hi Ken,
All up there were 120 avi's with 500images in each. I then took the best 20% so 12000 stacked images in the end. These last 4 days of Sun have given me a good opportunity to experiment.

Peter,
If my arithmetic is correct that’s about one stacked image every 30sec covering the hour long animation.
That says to me you had very good seeing over the period!
That’s a keeper......

Yup that's spot on. Skippy Sky noted 8/10 and also tame Jetstream of about 30kmh. I also learnt a lot for next week. This is just so much fun.
A very impressive result Peter. Well done. Was this sequence taken with the assistance of the Hinode?

You get the basics covered them the seeing matches your efforts you get the goods. Excellent work

Thank you Gerard,
I do have the Hinode but haven'y actually used it since I bought it here late last year. It's fitted to the Lunt but not connected. The plan was to get some days to experiment and weather put the kybosh on that until this week.
All going well next week will be another fine week and I intend to hook it up then.
I used the Advanced CG5 mount and had a good alignment and tracking so only occasional tweaks were needed. Autostakkert and IMPPG do a good job also.

Wise words from the master... I have a looooooong way to go after looking at your superb work Dave!
Simply SUPERB Peter
BTW, that's a huge prominence - I make it to be something like 20% of the Sun's radius. That's LOTS .... ~140,000 km high. I'd wager that's an IIS record.
Best

Yeah, that's how it's done!
Thanks for that input Peter. Yes, I’ve heard about the claims of the Hinode system but have always wondered how good the next best thing i.e. accurate polar alignment on a quality drive, set at a solar rate and coupled with appropriate software can do. Your results prove that excellent results of this type can be achieved with care. Thanks again for your post.

Thank JA, it's a big prom for sure. That plasma raining down impresses me everytime, some of those rain blobs must be bigger than OZ!

Thanks Jonathan, and right back at ya with the bows as I have seen and drooled over your super Solar imaging skills. Bring on the Cycle 25!

Wow that’s so good! The animation is such a good presentation format to see all that activity.
