Shot this over a couple of nights this week from my backyard using a tripod and Sightron Nano Tracker to manage 1 and 2 min subs of both UVIR cut and 7nm Ha filters. Combined in Photoshop and cropped to reveal more detail, this was shot with a 40 year old Pentax 135mm f 3.5 prime lens and a modded Canon 550d. Basic stuff but fun to do. :)

Now who's been up late?

Nice and clear here until 2am, then it rained.

Good one Mic

Great image with an old prime. The whole wide field of carina is a great target.

Thanks Marc, yes, most of the interesting bits fall in the frame using the 135mm and apc sensor.

Thanks Alex, glad you like it. Look forward to see the shots you take with that lens, by all accounts, it's a great lens.

Thanks Ray, the old lens is surprisingly sharp it's just the 200kb limit here doesn't do justice to the 50mb TIF file I have for it.

Thanks Jon, has your roll off roof seized up with rust? Haven't seen much from the Obs for a while. ;)

Yes it's always a late one for me but the days are getting shorter, so I should be able to get out there earlier. I had just packed the gear away after this one and the clouds rolled in. Perfect timing!

Thanks Anthony, having fun with the Ha filter. Either using it for a luminence layer or as in this case, substituting the red channel with it and still maintaining the RGB stars.
